Snake Awareness & Reptile Education Experience
About this Offering
Snakes and other reptiles play important roles in natural ecosystems, but they are often misunderstood. Educational activities can help visitors recognise the value of reptiles, understand their behaviour, and learn how to respond safely to encounters.
The proposed experience could cover basic reptile identification, common misconceptions, snakebite prevention, and the importance of keeping a safe distance from wild animals. A qualified educator could explain why snakes should not be handled or killed and how to seek appropriate help when a snake enters a residential or visitor area.
Snake-awareness drills were included in the 2025 Seinthuk Nature Camp organised by Garung Thuk, in collaboration with the Shergaon Forest Division and WTI. The camp introduced students to wildlife and biodiversity through educational activities.
Partners & Community Collaboration: Garung Thuk, Shergaon Forest Division, and WTI were involved in the documented nature-camp initiative. A qualified reptile educator or authorised rescue professional must be confirmed for any public programme.
Safety Requirements: No unqualified handling or capturing of snakes. Any live-animal demonstration must comply with applicable wildlife laws and permissions.
